HEALING

Where Art and Heart Come Together

We offer therapeutic services that honor both words and creative expression. This work supports healing and growth by creating space to explore emotional and behavioral patterns in ways that are both reflective and experiential.  If your skill level and experience in art and creative practices is low but you are curious, don’t be intimidated! We will work together to create a plan you are comfortable with.  This is not art class!! The value in using creativity is to bypass the patterns that you have established that aren’t working for you and there is absolutely no artistic skill needed to pursue creative therapies. Stick figures are great! And YES. . . it’s also for adults

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Art at Heart Psychotherapy

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical, goal-oriented approach designed to help you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and actions. By identifying and challenging unhelpful patterns of thinking, we work together to develop healthier habits and effective coping strategies. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, or daily stress, CBT empowers you with the tools to change your mindset and reclaim control over your life.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Art at Heart Psychotherapy

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a unique approach that helps you stop struggling with painful thoughts and feelings so you can focus on what truly matters. Instead of fighting your inner experiences, we work on “psychological flexibility”—helping you stay present and take consistent action toward the life you want to lead, even when things are difficult.

Behavioral Therapy, Art at Heart Psychotherapy

Behavioral Therapy

Action creates momentum. Behavioral Therapy is a focused, hands-on approach that looks at the relationship between your environment and your actions. By identifying the triggers for negative behaviors and reinforcing positive new habits, we help you make tangible changes in your daily routine. This therapy is highly effective for breaking cycles of procrastination, managing phobias, and improving self-discipline, providing you with a clear roadmap for how to act your way into a better way of feeling.

Family Systems Theory, Art at Heart Psychotherapy

Family Systems Theory

In Family Systems Theory, we view the family as an emotional unit rather than a collection of individuals. We believe that a change in one person inevitably affects the whole group. This approach helps families identify deep-rooted patterns, roles, and “unwritten rules” that may be causing conflict or stress. By understanding the system as a whole, we can work together to improve communication, set healthy boundaries, and foster a more supportive, harmonious home environment. We will also look at how you are a part of other systems such as work, friendships, and society as a whole that you influence and that influence you.

Existential Theory, Art at Heart Psychotherapy

Existential Theory

We all encounter moments in life where we ask, “What is the point?” or “Who am I now?” Existential therapy is a compassionate, philosophical approach that helps you explore the core of the human experience. Rather than focusing on symptoms alone, we look at your life as a whole—helping you confront anxiety, find purpose, and embrace your freedom to choose. By acknowledging the challenges of existence, you can begin to live more authentically and create a life that truly feels like your own.

Gestalt/Object-Relations Theory, Art at Heart Psychotherapy

Gestalt/Object-Relations Theory

We don’t live in a vacuum; our personalities are shaped by our earliest relationships and how we experience the present moment. By blending Gestalt and Object-Relations theories, we help you bridge the gap between your past and your present. We explore the “internal blueprints” you carry from childhood—how you view yourself and others—and use the therapeutic relationship as a safe space to experiment with new ways of being. This approach is ideal for those looking to resolve deep-seated relational patterns and achieve a more integrated, whole sense of self.

Art Therapy, Art at Heart Psychotherapy

Art Therapy

Sometimes, our deepest experiences are hard to put into words. Art Therapy provides an alternative path to healing by using the creative process to explore emotions, reduce anxiety, and reconcile emotional conflicts. At Art at Heart, we provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can use paint, clay, or drawing to give external form to your internal world. This isn’t about creating a masterpiece; it’s about using the act of creation to gain self-awareness and find relief in a way that traditional talk therapy cannot always reach.
